It cannot be positioned anywhere else along the ruler. **Q: Can this T-rule be used with a metal scribe instead of a 5mm pencil?** A: With a small enough tip it should do just fine. I love mine **Q: Can this T-rule also be used as a compass (with the T-bar removed) ?** A: A compass has multiples uses, so if the question is you could draw circles using this rule the answer is yes, even it will be a little tricky **Q: Does this allow you to make small lines (I.e. for book folding) or just a dot at the desired measurement?** A: Yes.
