After experimenting with several other brands and application techniques, I've seen better results with this Kiwi brand and have used it in preparation for our last four camping trips. I've used it on our tents, sun shelter, and even my Kodiak canvas tent. I typically will set up all our tents in the backyard here at home and apply one coat to the exterior. It does give off a smell when applying but it doesn't necessarily "stink" to me. I just leave everything up all day and take it down in the evening to allow the product to "bond" with the material. There is no sticky residue and the fabric is still breathable by the time I'm taking everything down. I usually take a couple of cans with me when we go camping and if the weather is nice on setup day, I'll apply another coat around the windows, doors, and corner seams. When it rains, I've noticed that the water tends to bead up on the fabric rather than soak through it. It's kind of like putting wax on a car. The beads roll off instead of soaking through the fabric. This is also the best way to see if you missed a spot when you see an area without the beads of water. It does have a slight discoloration (yellowing) to lighter areas on the tent fabric but nothing that really bothers me personally. I don't recommend "soaking" the fabric with the spray and apply a light coat evenly across everything. I usually hold the can between 8-10 inches away (try to use when there isn't a lot of wind) and let the spray drift right onto the material.I've had good results with this product on my tents and rain tarps. I've never used this "heavy duty" version on clothing but I do know that Kiwi makes a product specifically for clothing products that you might want to look for if you are only interested in that. I recommend! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seems to work well with two coats... Time will tell. *by I***N on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 8, 2016* Our last camping trip we were caught in an all night downpour where the tent material was completely soaked through, fortunately I had a tarp to cover us otherwise we would have been swimming in our tent.To fix this, I seam sealed the inside of our tent and rainfly, then coated the exterior of our 5x7 2 person tent with 3 cans of this Kiwi heavy duty waterproofer. Reviews of the product said to do light sprays but I didn't have all night (running out of daylight) so I just went to town and got the material fully saturated. I did one coat on the tent itself and 2 on the rainfly. A camping trip this last weekend was an OK test as it drizzled for about an hour overnight... It was no downpour, but the tent definitely stayed dry which is all I cared about. I took some photos of the water beaded up on the tent but can't get them on the site right now, I will update the review later.In summary: After two coats, tent definitely seems water repellent (as do my fingers from overspray). Time will tell if it holds up! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I am more than satisfied by how waterproof these 3 items became *by T***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 29, 2015* I tried it on two pairs of shoes out of curiosity and a jacket which was loosing its water repelling ability. I am more than satisfied by how waterproof these 3 items became. I cannot say for the long run since it hasn't rained for me to test it. But I did test it under the water faucet multiple times for a couple of days and it doesn't soak even if I let water sit on top of it for a minute.Cons:-Darkens the color a slight shade. I only noticed cause I spot tested on my jacket. It's barely noticeable.-Stiffen the material ever so slighty (slightly less breathable maybe? I couldn't tell)-Strong odor. Even after having sprayed it outside before taking it inside to the bathroom with doors closed and air vents on.
