We've only had them for a few months, and the edges are already coming up. We even used double-sided tape for each square because when it sits on hardwood floor it does have a tendency to slide this way or that after time. It is not dangerous or slippery. It can just be frustrating if you need the carpet to stay exactly in a certain spot due to your floor layout. I would say it is fairly easy to clean.
